"Life without adventure is deadly dull." - Baden Powell
The Scout Troop caters for young people between the ages of 10½ and 14 years. Scout meetings are usually held each Friday during term time at the Scout Headquarters in Wood Street. We have a busy programme of varied challenges and activities, from badge work to pioneering projects; dodgeball to wide games. There really is something for everyone.
Our main objective is to give our young people every opportunity to see and do new things, work as part of a team and develop skills that will help them throughout their lives, whilst at the same time having a good time with friends!
Scouts love to camp – it is what Scouting is all about! 1st Ash Vale is renowned in the District for the number of camps run during the year, which usually take place at weekends or during school holidays. Camping is great for developing teamwork, initiative and self-reliance!
The main camp of the year is Summer Camp, usually of a week’s duration, held during the school holidays in July / August. Other camps currently include the legendary Mother & Scout Camp and Father & Scout Camp, when parents are invited to join in.
Ask any of our Scouts why they continue to come along and make our Troop one of the most active in the District and they will tell you. They have fun!
